My name is Madeleine Bamurange, a former refugee in Burundi. My family lived in Burundi since it fled ethnic conflicts in 1959. We came back in my home country after the genocide. When my husband died in an accident in 1996, I was left in poverty with 6 children without a job. Sometimes my children would spend some days without eating. I had no hope for living and raising my children. In that time of despair I came to know Shalom Ministries which comforted me and helped me found peace in Jesus Christ. After regaining hope, they helped me build a house and now it is rented to generate income to meet family’s needs. I am happy and have peace and hope for living.
